The Best Chocolate Cake with Fudge Icing is a simple yet irresistible dessert that everyone will love.

I had to share my love for topping my chocolate cake with rich fudge icing. This combination is seriously heavenly and surprisingly easy to make. If you love chocolate, this cake will become a fast favorite.
This cake deserves a warning: “Highly Addictive — enjoy at your own risk!”
It brings together my The Best Chocolate Cake {Ever} recipe and my grandmother’s classic Fudge Icing. Together they make a decadent pairing that’s hard to resist.
When I make this cake, I usually invite plenty of friends or family to help me eat it. I bring it to holidays, send slices home with my son’s friends, and generally make sure there are extra people around so I’m not left alone with the whole pan. It’s just safer for my waistline — though my taste buds are always thrilled.

Make this cake for a crowd — or for 12 of your closest friends — and you’ll be glad you did.

Below is the recipe for Chocolate Cake with Fudge Icing. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

The Best Chocolate Cake with Fudge Icing Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 The Best Chocolate Cake {Ever} recipe
- 1 Fudge Icing recipe
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Prepare a rimmed sheet pan with nonstick baking spray, homemade cake pan release, or coat with shortening and lightly dust with flour, removing any excess flour.
-
Prepare the cake batter as directed in The Best Chocolate Cake {Ever} recipe and pour it into the prepared rimmed sheet pan. Smooth the batter with an offset spatula so it’s evenly distributed. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the edges pull away slightly and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool for about 10–15 minutes.
-
While the cake cools, prepare the Fudge Icing as directed. Pour the warm icing over the cake, covering the entire surface. Avoid spreading the icing with a knife unless necessary, as pouring preserves the glossy finish.
-
Allow the cake and icing to cool completely, about 30 minutes, so the icing sets.
-
Cut into squares and serve.
