Honey-Glazed Almonds: Sweet Crunch Snack Recipe

Honey-glazed almonds are a crunchy, addictive snack that’s perfect for kids and adults alike. They make a great after-school treat, are easy to pack in a lunchbox, and are a tasty way to encourage children to enjoy nuts.

I first got the idea after sampling cinnamon-glazed cashews at a store. I loved the sweet coating but wanted a lighter, more economical option at home, so I adapted a recipe from Food Network. The result was a simple, satisfying honey glaze with a hint of cinnamon that pairs beautifully with roasted almonds.

This version is quick to prepare, uses wholesome ingredients, and stores well for snacking throughout the week. The honey adds natural sweetness while roasting amplifies the almonds’ nutty flavor. If your child is reluctant to try nuts, this glaze is a friendly introduction.

Ingredients

  • Almonds – 2 cups
  • Honey – 3 tbsp
  • Sugar – 3 tbsp
  • Water – 3 tbsp
  • Cooking spray or butter, to grease (I used PAM cooking spray)

Instructions

  1. Line a tray with parchment paper and lightly grease it with cooking spray or butter.
  2. Spread the almonds in a single layer. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and roast the almonds for 12–15 minutes, stirring once or twice so they brown evenly.
  3. While the almonds roast, combine the honey, water and 1 tablespoon of sugar in a heavy-bottomed pan. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat.
  4. Add the hot roasted almonds to the pan and stir until the honey mixture coats the nuts and is mostly absorbed.
  5. Turn off the heat and transfer the coated almonds to the prepared tray.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining sugar over the warm almonds and toss to separate any clusters and create a lightly crystallized coating.
  7. Allow the almonds to cool until they are warm enough to handle, breaking apart any clusters. Let cool completely before storing.
  8. Store in an airtight container. Enjoy as a wholesome snack or pack them for school or work.
