This is a sponsored post. Today I’m sharing a simple tutorial to sew a Snappy Wipes Pouch so you can keep hand wipes within easy reach.

The pouch includes a swivel clip so you can attach it to a diaper bag, purse, backpack or belt loop. If your bag tends to be a black hole, having wipes clipped to the outside makes them much easier to find.
I used to carry hand sanitizer, but with four kids I prefer antibacterial hand wipes. Wipes remove dirt and bacteria more effectively than gel and can clean hands and surfaces—useful for wiping a high chair or a fast food table on the go.

With a child who has food allergies, I’m careful about cleaning surfaces before meals. Nice ‘n CLEAN Antibacterial Hand Wipes are proven to remove peanut residue from hard surfaces, and the brand donates 1% of purchases to the Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE) organization. I appreciate products that support allergy awareness and help make eating out safer for my family.

Now, let’s get started on the pouch!
Snappy Wipes Pouch

Supplies:
- 1/2 yard or two fat quarters of cotton quilting fabric
- an old metal tape measure
- scissors (old ones will cut the metal tape)
- electrical tape
- swivel hook hardware
Directions:
Carefully open the metal tape measure case. Hold the roll as you remove it to prevent it from unwinding. Wrap the rolled tape tightly with electrical tape to keep it from unraveling until you’re ready to cut pieces.

Use a 1/4 inch seam allowance throughout the project.

Cut two small squares for prairie points. Press each square in half diagonally, then press in half diagonally again so they form pointed prairie points. These will act as tabs to open and close the pouch—set them aside.

Take the two larger rectangles for the pouch body, place them right sides together, and sew around the perimeter, leaving about 1.5 inches open along the top edge so you can turn the pouch right side out. Turn and press, making sure to fold the raw edges of the opening inward so the topstitching will close it.

Fold the 2.5 x 4 inch piece lengthwise, sew a tube, then turn it right side out and press flat. Slide this strip through the swivel hook and fold the strip to hold the hook in place; set aside.

Measure 1½ inches down from the top edge (the metal tape is about 1 inch wide) and fold the top and bottom edges toward the exterior of the bag to create two casings for the metal tape. Press the folds to keep them in place.

Pin a prairie point at the center of each casing with the raw edge aligned with the fold. Topstitch across each casing with an 1/8 inch seam allowance, catching the prairie point’s raw edge. If one casing includes the small turning opening, be sure the topstitching closes that opening.

Measure and cut two pieces from the metal tape. Each piece should be about 1 inch shorter than the width of the casing so there’s roughly 1/2 inch of clearance on each side. Use sturdy scissors to cut the metal tape, then cover the cut ends with electrical tape to blunt the sharp edges.

Fold the bag in half and align the casings. Tuck the swivel hook strip into one side so its raw edges point outward. Sew the full length of one side of the bag closed. Sew the other side closed but leave the casing opening unsewn so you can insert the metal tape pieces.

With the pouch still inside out, create a flat bottom by folding each bottom corner into a point so the seam sits at the top of the point. Measure about 1/2 inch down from the tip and sew a straight line across. Repeat for the other side to form the boxed bottom.

Insert the cut metal tape pieces into the casings while the bag is still inside out. Make sure the numbered side faces outward on each piece so when you flip the bag right side out the numbers face each other—this orientation allows the pouch to snap open and closed properly. Line up the casing openings and sew them shut to secure the metal pieces, then turn the pouch right side out.

Use the prairie points to pull the pouch open easily. Insert a pack of hand wipes and use the swivel hook to clip the pouch to a bag or belt loop for quick access.

This little pouch makes a practical and charming gift—perfect as a stocking stuffer paired with a pack of Nice ‘n CLEAN Antibacterial Hand Wipes.
