Ninja Creami Vanilla Swirl Soft Serve Recipe

Learn how easy it is to make vanilla soft serve ice cream in the Ninja Swirl by Creami.

Ninja Creami Swirl vanilla soft serve tastes like what you’d get at your favorite restaurants — now you can make it at home.

Ninja Creami Swirl vanilla soft serve ice cream is served in a dessert cup shaped like an ice cream cone.

The Ninja Creami has grown in popularity by making it simple to prepare homemade ice cream, gelato, and sorbet. Its versatility lets you tailor frozen treats to your tastes and dietary needs by using a wide range of ingredients.

Recently Ninja introduced the Ninja Swirl, a new Creami model that keeps all the functions of the original machine while adding a soft-serve dispensing option.

The Ninja Swirl works like the traditional Creami — you create a base, freeze it in the special pint container for at least 24 hours, then process it in the machine. The difference is the Swirl’s Soft Serve function and dispensing side, which let you produce smooth, restaurant-style soft serve straight from the device.

I tested the machine and adapted my popular Ninja Creami vanilla recipe into a version made for the Swirl. Combining elements from other favorites created a silky, well-balanced vanilla soft serve that dispenses beautifully.

How the Ninja Swirl by Creami Works

The Ninja Swirl operates similarly to the original Creami: you prepare a liquid base, pour it into a pint container, freeze it flat for at least 24 hours, and then process it in the machine.

The Soft Serve setting processes the frozen base to a very smooth, creamy consistency. After processing, move the pint to the machine’s dispensing side, attach the dispensing lid, and you can release soft serve in a swirl — just like commercial machines.

For this vanilla recipe I aimed for a balance: soft enough to dispense smoothly, but firm enough to hold a cone. The finished soft serve is creamy, smooth, and nicely flavored with vanilla.

Freeze. Place the sealed pint on a level surface in your freezer and freeze for at least 24 hours.

Process. Remove the pint from the freezer, take off the lid, set the pint into the outer bowl, and secure the outer bowl lid. Lock the outer bowl into the machine, press the “Soft Serve” button, then the “Ice Cream” button. Let the cycle finish. If the texture isn’t fully smooth, run a Re-spin cycle.

Dispense as soft serve. Remove the pint from the outer bowl and attach the soft serve dispensing lid. Align the blue line on the dispensing lid with the blue line on the machine’s dispensing side, insert the pint, and twist to lock. Turn the white base of the pint to the “Open” position, then pull the lever to dispense the soft serve into a cone or bowl.

Notes and Adaptations

  • After pulling the lever it can take a few seconds before the soft serve starts flowing — that’s normal.
  • Add toppings as you like: sprinkles, chocolate sauce, fruit, or crushed cookies all work well.
