Looking for a festive idea for the Fourth of July weekend? Try a Red, White, and Blue fruit board that’s simple, fresh, and crowd-pleasing.
I picked up these star-shaped bowls from Sur La Table a couple of years ago on an impulse during a lunch break. They were meant for just a couple of holidays each year—Memorial Day and the Fourth of July—so when the season rolls around I like to make the most of them.
Colors and components:
Red: Strawberries and watermelon
Blue: Blueberries
White: Feta and a mascarpone–Greek yogurt dip
Feta pairs surprisingly well with watermelon—the salty, crumbly cheese complements the juicy sweetness. For the white element, mix equal parts mascarpone and Greek yogurt and sweeten with honey to taste. That creamy dip is excellent with both strawberries and blueberries.

To add a playful touch, I used star-shaped cookie cutters and lollipop sticks to make watermelon stars on sticks. My kids loved the presentation—though my toddler found holding and eating the watermelon on a stick a little tricky, since the pieces slipped as she took a bite. For younger children, consider serving stars on a platter instead of on sticks.
